Critical Infrastructure Protection
Protecting the communications that keep critical infrastructure running, with a practical path from today’s networks to tomorrow’s quantum-secure architectures.
Critical infrastructure operators cannot wait for quantum threats to become operational reality. Energy, gas, water, and industrial robotics environments depend on communications and control systems whose long life cycles make them especially exposed to “harvest now, decrypt later” risks and to the future obsolescence of classical key exchange. Quantum B helps these sectors build a practical path to quantum resistance by combining QCMS, pQKD, QRNG-based entropy appliances, and partner-delivered QKD systems into deployable security architectures.
From today’s controls to quantum-ready architectures
-
Our approach begins with QCMS: Quantum Cryptography Migration System, a phased framework designed to move organizations from today’s security posture toward full quantum cryptography in a controlled and cost-efficient way. QCMS starts with the deployment of pQKD devices, followed by integration with encryption hardware or software, testing and validation, later upgrade to full QKD, and finally the option to retain pQKD as a resilience and backup layer. This lets infrastructure operators modernize without a disruptive “rip-and-replace” program.
-
For operators that need to act now, pQKD provides an immediate quantum-resistance layer for key distribution without requiring a dedicated quantum fiber from day one. Built around ETSI-style QKD interoperability and secured through post-quantum mechanisms over an out-of-band channel, pQKD integrates with encryption devices and VPN environments while also incorporating a true QRNG source for local entropy. That makes it especially suitable for distributed industrial environments where pragmatic rollout, interoperability, and continuity of operations matter as much as cryptographic strength.
-
To strengthen the trustworthiness of cryptographic operations across operational technology and control environments, we also provide QRNG appliances as high-quality local quantum entropy sources. These systems are designed to supply robust randomness for key generation and related cryptographic functions, including API-based access within local networks. In critical infrastructure, where deterministic weaknesses can become systemic vulnerabilities, trusted entropy is not an accessory but a foundation.
-
Where the security profile or regulatory posture requires the highest level of protection, we complement this migration path with partner-provided QKD systems. These are used to establish physically secured key exchange channels and can be integrated into broader security infrastructures that include encryptors, VPNs, and key management environments. In practice, this means Quantum B can support both transitional architectures and end-state quantum-secure deployments, depending on sector, budget, network topology, and risk exposure.
Energy, gas and water networks
For utilities and network operators, we help protect communications supporting SCADA, telemetry, remote substations, grids, pumping stations, compressor stations, and other distributed operational assets. Our services focus on securing data in transit, strengthening key management, introducing quantum-safe entropy and key exchange, and creating a realistic roadmap from current cryptographic infrastructure to quantum-resistant and, where needed, full QKD-based architectures.
Robotics and industrial systems
For robotic systems, autonomous machines, and Industry 4.0 environments, we help secure machine-to-machine communication, command channels, telemetry, and remote management links against future cryptographic disruption. Our solutions are designed for environments where latency, reliability, and operational continuity are essential, and where secure key exchange must work across heterogeneous devices, networks, and encryption layers. With pQKD, QRNG, and QCMS, organizations can begin the transition now and evolve toward full quantum cryptographic protection as their infrastructure matures.
